Twitter has deleted a post by prominent American conservative voice CJ Pearson saying that pedophiles should be castrated.
Pearson's tweet, which simply stated "Every pedophile in America should be castrated," was deleted due to a violation of Twitter's "rules against abuse and harassment."
"You may not engage in the targeted harassment of someone, or incite other people to do so," the notice reads. "This includes wishing or hoping that someone experiences physical harm."
Speaking to The Post Millennial, Pearson said, "It is not only shameful, but downright disgusting, that Twitter is more concerned about the feelings and emotional well-being of child predators than the protection of our children."
Twitter was criticized earlier this year after users discovered that the site had changed its terms of service to permit discussion about "attraction towards minors" so long as users "don't promote or glorify child sexual exploitation in any way."
"Artistic depictions of nude minors in a non-sexualized context or setting may be permitted in a limited number of scenarios e.g., works by internationally renowned artists that feature minors," the sites guidelines read.
Several countries use chemical castration for sex offenders, including Argentina, who approved the use of voluntary chemical castration for rapists in return for reduced sentences.
India has also proposed that the practice along with 30 year prison sentences under a new anti-rape law.
Indonesia also introduced regulation to allow chemical castration to child sex offenders and pedophiles.
Chemical castration has been experimented with in several US states, including Pearson's state of Georgia.
