Two Nova Scotia Hospitals have gone into lockdown as of Friday morning, according to Global News.
Carla Adams, a spokesperson for Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) said in an email that the Halifax Infirmary’s emergency department is now under lockdown.
She added that Truro’s Colchester East Hants Health Centre is currently in an access control situation. This means that some restrictions have been placed on who is able to access the centre.
“We can’t share details other than to say it is a measure to protect the safety of patients, visitors and staff,” Adams said.
“For safety reasons, our policy is to not confirm when a lockdown has been lifted.”
Adams noted that the NSHA believes that the two situations are separate.
She added that the hospital in Truro is not in a complete lockdown. Patients and staff can come and go freely.
