A Friday press release from the Department of Justice stated that two New York men were indicted for their alleged role in the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol.

The DOJ press release announced conspiracy charges against Dominic Pezzola of Rochester and William Pepe of Beacon, describing them as "two members of the far-right nationalist group."

The two were accused of "working together to obstruct and interfere with law enforcement officers protecting Congress during the final certification of the presidential election," according to the New York Times.

They were indicted Friday in D.C. federal court on charges of "conspiracy, civil disorder, unlawfully entering restricted buildings or grounds, and disorderly and disruptive conduct in restricted buildings or grounds," the Daily Wire reports.

The charges identify both men as members of the Proud Boys organization, citing that they were both spotted at Proud Boys gatherings and own equipment with the Proud Boys logo.

The indictment does not at this time accuse the men in any form of organizing the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, it "describes only a two-person conspiracy that lasted only through the day of the rally when, it notes, a large group of Proud Boys traveled to Washington and gathered near the Capitol grounds," the Times reports.

Both defendants were reportedly already in custody and facing charges related to the Capitol riot.
