The woman was able to leave the area after briefly losing consciousness, and flag some people down to call 911. She was taken to a local hospital, according to CBS.
A second woman was assaulted around 45 minutes later at 8:05 am on a footpath near 103rd Street and FDR Drive on the Upper East Side. A suspect was arrested in this case, though police have yet to identify the person arrested.
"At this time we will just say that we have two separate sexual assaults, but we're not saying that the MOs are similar, no. We're just saying we have two separate assaults and we are investigating both, but we are exploring all angles at this time," NYPD Inspector Michael King said.
The two assaults come less than 24 hours after a 13-year-old girl was raped in the Bronx while she was on her way home from school.
At 2:35pm, the girl was thrown to the ground by an unknown man. Following the assault, he stole her cell phone and escaped. The teen was taken to a nearby hospital.
