U of T prof suggests Conservatives’ tweet is white supremacist because it contains '14 words'

A University of Toronto professor raised eyebrows Sunday evening after alleging a Conservative Party tweet is a dog whistle for Nazism. David Fisman is a tenured professor of Epidemiology and a former Ontario COVID-19 Science Table member. According to CP24, he resigned just last week, citing he did not want to further politicize COVID-19.

Despite being lauded by allies for his alleged dedication to neutrality, Fisman is now the subject of a bizarre series of tweets, including one alleging the Conservative party is using secret messaging to attract Nazis.

"Wow.  Now they’ve added 'secure the future for your children' and they’ve got the slogan at exactly 14 words.  So creepy," his tweet read on Sunday. The professor then linked to the Wikipedia page for "The Fourteen Words," which is a secret code, based on Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf. According to Fisman, the fact that the Conservative party tweet contained exactly fourteen words is reason enough to believe the party is secretly a Nazi party.

Fisman's tweet gained immediate traction, with many not only pointing out the absurdity of the claim, but also the clearly partisan behavior exhibited by someone who was praised a week ago for being neutral and principled. Writer Jonathan Kay notes this bizarre and worrisome behaviour may "help explain why the claims he made to the media about COVID modelling always seemed dodgy. He said there was a cover-up, but had no evidence, and his colleagues denied it. All the stories about Fisman's Aug 23 decision to quit were sourced to his own vague claims."

Others were quick to point out the partisan behaviour in relation to the recent polling suggesting Justin Trudeau is at risk of losing the election. Many commentators have predicted leftists would inevitably resort saying, "Conservatives are literally Hitler."

At the time of this publication, the tweet remains up. Since tweeting, Fisman has actively retweeted allies who agree with his position. "It's no longer a dog whistle; it's a fog horn," says one of his followers. It remains to be seen whether the backlash will lead to the tweet being deleted or even legal action from the Conservative party.
