This comes only one day after Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky stood before a fawning Congress demanding more US aid for what has become his regime change war against Russia, telling American representatives that the money and weapons already sent are "not enough."
Vice President Kamala Harris and Nancy Pelosi also showed their deference to the Ukrainian flag, holding it up above Congress with gleeful smiles as they listened to a foreign leader praise their dedication to securing his nation's borders, while they ignore the chaos at their own.
Zelensky spent time in DC on Wednesday meeting with President Joe Biden, who promised another $45 billion in cash, and a massive cache of weapons and ammunition. Zelensky sat clad in a sweatshirt, not even bothering to put on professional attire to meet with the leader of the nation from which he is demanding money.
Biden said during that meeting that the US would fund Zelensky "as long as it takes."
"We also know that Putin has no intention, no intention of stopping this war. And the United States is committed to ensuring that the brave Ukrainian people can continue to defend their country against Russian aggression as long as it takes," Biden said.
It was this sentiment that was referenced in the Ukraine ambassador's tweet of the American flag splashed with Ukraine's colors. The colors of Ukraine's flag represent sky and wheat, one of Ukraine's chief exports.
"The American people are prepared to have us stand up to bullies, stand up for freedom. That's who we are as Americans," Biden said in the meeting with Zelensky.
It is unclear how Americans will stand up for freedom if they cannot even stand up for their own flag. The US flag represents the 13 original colonies that fought for independence against the British, the 50 states that resulted from that union, with red standing for valor, white for purity, and blue for loyalty.
Ukraine's ambassador wiped that out in his complete overhaul of the US flag to represent his nation and not America. It shows how little Ukraine thinks of American independence that they would not only demand our money, our weapons, and our loyalty to their cause but would also take our flag and remake it in their own colors.
Prior to the meeting, Zelensky said in a video that "We are grateful for [the United States'] support, but it is not enough. It is a hint — it is not enough." Zelensky later repeated this sentiment to Congress, at which point they laughed and laughed, not realizing perhaps that the joke is on the American people.
Zelensky's level of entitlement to American money caused Donald Trump Jr. to call him an "ungrateful international welfare queen."
Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, and since then, senators and congressmen in the center of both parties have advocated for the US to send billions upon billions of dollars to aid the fight against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Support from many Americans has waned over the past few months as it becomes increasingly clear that, like so many international entanglements in which the US gets involved, this could stretch on for years, if not decades.
It was just in August 2021 that Americans witnessed the deaths of 13 US servicemen during Biden's botched withdrawal of forces in Afghanistan, where the US had been engaged in armed conflict for 20 years.
If Biden and Zelensky have their way, the siphoning of American taxpayer funds to Ukraine in service to a war that could lead to nuclear conflict will continue indefinitely. When speaking to Congress, Zelensky praised himself for not asking for US military forces to come fight on their behalf but simply to send more money and weapons.
Congress cheered at this, but if Zelensky does make the ask, there's no reason to believe that America's representatives will not send US troops to fight an endless war in service to congressional vanity and a refusal to see America as anything more than a piggy-bank for Zelensky.
