Leftist were triggered that LGBT activist and foreign policy wonk Richard Grenell did not play into identity politics during his speech at the Republican National Convention last night.

Under Donald Trump, Richard Grenell was the first openly gay member of the US Cabinet. As the former acting Director of National Intelligence tasked with overseeing 17 spy agencies, naturally Grenell spoke on surveillance, foreign policy, and national security. Left-wing fascists attempted to silence him because he chose to discuss his speciality instead of his sexuality.

Former Iowa Democrats' chair Troy Price was enraged that Grenell, senior adviser to the Republican National Committee who recently joined to handle LGBT outreach, had "spent his entire speech never once talking about #LGBTQ people."

In February, Price had announced his resignation as chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party, following the controversy over the delay in the final results of the 2020 Iowa Democratic caucuses, NPR reported.

Meanwhile, Grenell has actually performed in his role and done his job right, proactively concentrating his energy into action rather than virtue-signaling lip.

The day before The New York Times White House correspondent Maggie Haberman published yesterday's hit piece on Trump's gay rights record, Beirut Lebanon Pride organizer Hadie Damien thanked the Trump administration and Grenell for spearheading a global campaign to decriminalize homosexuality throughout the world.

"The work we've been doing with @RichardGrenell is picking up. We commit, we focus, we honor sensitivities, and we meet people from different paces. We learn a lot," Damien wrote. "Here’s to more outreach with clerics and future friends."

Michelangelo Signorile, who was inducted into the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association's LGBT Journalist Hall of Fame, was angered that Grenell "never said anything about gay rights, LGBTQ equality, nothing."

"This is actually a total capitulation to the evangelical right — Trump at least let Peter Thiel talk about *being* gay & claim Trump was pro-gay," Signorile stressed as if Trump had placed a gag order on all LGBT dialogue at the 2020 convention. When in reality, individuals can think and speak freely outside the confines of their group allegiances.

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), self-described as "the nation's largest LGBTQ civil rights organization," accused Grenell of gaslighting the public as Trump's token LGBT supporter.

"Richard 'Gaslight' Grenell wants us to think that his mere presence on the stage will cancel out Trump's blatant attacks on LGBTQ people," HRC tweeted, adding that Grenell's speech "came moments before homophobe Mike Pence took the stage."

"Shameful he's using his LGBTQ identity as a shield for this president," HRC concluded, inserting a dumpster-fire emoji combination.

The Daily Beast's senior editor Marlow Stern claimed that while Grenell spoke at the RNC, the GOP platform does not support his right to marry. However, Trump is the first president in history to support gay marriage at the time of his election and the first Republican commander-in-chief to celebrate Pride Month.

Yet Democrats fail to credit Trump for securing a historic donation of free HIV medication for over 200,000 citizens and further investing $716 million into fighting the virus to save the lives of numerous LGBT people.

The president and CEO of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), Sarah Kate Ellis, attacked Grenell in a Twitter thread, outraged that he leaned away from the left-wing intersectionality pack on stage.

"Leading up to #RNC2020, Richard Grenell engaged in desperate acts of fanfare to spread lies about the Trump Administration's anti-LGBTQ record and tonight he did not even utter any mention of LGBTQ people on the main stage," Ellis tweeted.

She added that Grenell "unequivocally does not speak for the vast majority of LGBTQ Americans and allies who see through the Trump Administration’s lies about its abysmal LGBTQ record."

Ellis declared that her community will "remain vigilant and point to the truth," even though Grenell allegedly "will no doubt continue to misrepresent the Trump Administration's history in an appalling attempt to sway LGBTQ people and our allies."

"The facts are the facts and this administration has attacked the LGBTQ community in rhetoric and policy over 170 times," she ended, pointing to the Supreme Court case brought up by a Catholic adoption agency suing for the right to turn away gay and lesbian couples or else violate its religious teachings about same-sex marriage.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News on Sunday, Grenell had praised Trump's dislike for identity politics. While he alleged that the Obama-Biden administration maintained minority quotas, Trump has focused on meritocracy and not the need for diversity for the very sake of statistics.

“[Trump] doesn't play identity politics," Grenell stated. "You know, somebody recently asked me how many gays and lesbians work in the Trump administration. I had to answer, 'I have no idea. I really don’t know.' This person said to me, 'Well, there you go — that's the reason — because we had 2,410 in the Obama administration, the Obama-Biden administration.' I said, 'I'd be pretty offended that I was on a list that says here's our gay and lesbian list.'"

Grenell continued: "Thank God we don't keep a list. Thank God we don't hire people because they come out of a box and say 'here is a Black, here is a Hispanic, here is a gay person.' President Trump, I know him well, he doesn't care about these types of issues. They're irrelevant characterizations about someone. What is relevant is whether or not they can do the job."

On the day of Grenell's RNC speech, the Log Cabin Republicans, an organization dedicated to LGBT conservatives, unveiled a campaign ad featuring the gay rights advocate. Grenell called Trump "the strongest ally that gay Americans have ever had in the White House."

"The fact that I'm gay didn't even faze Donald Trump," he highlighted in the campaign spot.

Grenell also exposed Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's past support for "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"—the Clinton-era policy that allowed LGBT service members to serve in the military but forced into closeted circumstance—and the now-unconstitutional Defense of Marriage Act, which allowed states to refuse to recognize same-sex marriages.

"President Trump has done more to advance the rights of gays and lesbians in three years than Joe Biden did in 40 plus years in Washington," Grenell pointed out.
