According to the Times Colonist, a man visiting Beacon Hill Park in Victoria got pricked by an uncapped needle he found.

This is the second time this month that people have come across needles in this same park. Both needles left with the apparent intention of pricking someone, and unfortunately this time it actually happened.

The earlier incident involved an uncapped needle taped to a handrail. Police at that time issued a public alert warning people to be careful and report any suspicious activity.

The needle in question, which was on a heavily-used railing and taped at a very nasty angle, was safely removed by officials.

This latest incident, however, involved a needle left buried just off of  the chip path of the park. A man started walking down the path and went into the grassy area, where he immediately felt a sharp pain in his foot.

The unidentified man went immediately to the nearest hospital and called the authorities, where he described the incident in detail.

The Beacon Hill area and its park have recently become focal points for homelessness, with tent cities often springing up within the park itself. This has caused numerous area residents to complain about issues like cars being broken into and people, especially women, being harassed.
