True North's Cosmin Dszurdzsa compiled every instance in which Liberal and NDP MPs falsely claimed that protesters in Ottawa's Freedom Convoy were involved in an arson attempt in a downtown apartment building.
The alleged incident took place on Feb. 6, and was quickly blamed on the Freedom Convoy protesters, despite lacking evidence. The Emergencies Act was invoked by the Trudeau government due to incidents falsely linked to the truckers such as these, as well as the now-debunked claim that vast amounts of cash donated to the truckers came from abroad.
The video shows numerous MPs including, notably, the leader of the New Democrat Party, Jagmeet Singh, who frequently touted both debunked points to justify his party's "reluctant" support of the Act's invoking.
Ottawa Police wrote in a news release on Monday that "There is no information indicating that" Connor Russell McDonald, 21, of Ottawa was involved "in any way with the Convoy protest which was going on when this arson took place."
McDonald has been charged with:
- Arson Causing Property Damage
- Mischief to Property Endangering Life
- Mischief to Property
- Possess Incendiary Material
- Arson Disregard for Human Life
