Amidst current the backlash against Vice President Kamala Harris for not travelling to the southern border to handle the border crisis, the 'Border Czar' hosted a bipartisan group of female senators to have dinner with her at the Naval Observatory residence Tuesday night.
Had a great time with my fellow female senators this evening! Thanks for hosting us, @VP. Cheers! pic.twitter.com/Xdgh3vfgtX

Harris invited all 24 female senators, 16 Democrats and eight Republicans, according to CNN. 22 of those 24 attended. Kyrsten Sinema, Cynthia Lummis, and Cindy Hyde-Smith, all Republicans, reportedly did not attend.
Lummis, Sinema and Hyde-Smith were the no-shows, per administration official. https://t.co/GjfveQzHwP

The attending Senators spoke highly of the dinner, commending Harris’ bipartisan outreach during a time where both sides of the aisle tend not to see eye to eye.
Thank you for hosting the bipartisan women of the senate dinner, @VP Harris! (And for making those delicious cheese puffs).

There’s a lot that we all agree on, and we must continue to build a foundation of bipartisanship as we work to get results for the American people. pic.twitter.com/4Fgjk5xHND
According to a menu posted by Senator Deb Fischer, the group of ladies dined on roasted Mahi-Mahi, and had strawberry-rhubarb croustades for dessert.
I’ve been working with Kamala Harris ever since we served as our states’ Attorneys General. It was so nice to have her welcome us to the @VP’s residence last night.

There was a lot of joy around the table at our bipartisan women Senators’ dinner. pic.twitter.com/7SUoWQGVNw
They also enjoyed wines sourced from Harris’ home state of California, according to CNN.

Senator Marsha Blackburn called the dinner a "lovely event," adding that it "wasn't a policy discussion at all."
So I read you broke your foot over the weekend. Isn’t the Vice President’s home wheelchair accessible?
— Barbara Malmet (@B52Malmet) June 16, 2021
"But if she had brought up policies, I would've loved to have said, 'Madame Vice President, you need to get to the border. You need to talk to the Border Patrol,'" Blackburn said in an interview Tuesday with Fox News' Sean Hannity.
But do we really want Kamala doing anything *other than* cheese puffs?? I rather her stick to cheese puffs. https://t.co/wceVhlSLmc

Sinema, according to AZCentral, broke her foot running the Tunnel Marathon over the weekend. One twitter user questioned her lack of attendance, pointing out that Harris’ home is wheelchair accessible.
Great! Now maybe visit the US-México border?

Some Twitter users slammed the dinner, with many echoing the recent push to get the Vice President to the border.
People can’t afford rent, food, gas, lumber...but hey at least the VP made cheese puffs?????
