Yesterday, presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden had to walk back a gaffe in which he said that there is a lack of ideological diversity in the black community in the United States. But for Washington Post fact checker Glenn Kessler, the gaffe never happened.
If you listen to the clip, he didn’t actually say this. https://t.co/sU7XeCuHim

What happened was that Biden said "By the way, what you all know but most people don't know, unlike the African American community with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things."
Latinos have diversity of thought unlike black people who all think alike, says Joe Biden. pic.twitter.com/WRZKnUuTVU

And then Biden reversed course with a non-apology that clarified how he really felt about the African American community.
Earlier today, I made some comments about diversity in the African American and Latino communities that I want to clarify. In no way did I mean to suggest the African American community is a monolith—not by identity, not on issues, not at all.

Despite Joe Biden acknowledging his racist gaffe himself, Kessler's gaslighting tweet suggesting that Biden didn't say what he said remains up.
He did.

He did in fact say just that. https://t.co/yYl1hif4M0
