Video has been released by investigators of a shooting in Pickering, Ontario that left one man seriously injured. The investigators are asking for the public to help them identify the suspects, reports CP24.
Emergency crews on Monday, July 27, received calls around 5 p.m. that gunshots were fired near Woodview Drive, which is located near Alton Road and Twyn Rivers Drive.
According to investigators, two suspects opened fire on the man and made contact several times.
The victim—a 37-year-old man—was reportedly exiting a vehicle in his driveway when a white car pulled up containing four masked people. The car is described as a newer four-door model.
Video from the surveillance camera shows the victim running and hiding behind two of the cars parked in his driveway. The car then leaves and pulls around a second time—this time stopping and letting a passenger step out and chase the man.
The suspect then attempts to shoot the man several times before returning to the white car and leaving the scene.
"The victim was struck several times and fell to the ground," said police in a news release on Tuesday. "The suspects' vehicle then began to leave, but returned when the victim was seen moving."
"One suspect then walks up closer to the victim and fires several more rounds at him before returning to the white vehicle, which then sped away," police said.
The victim was transported to a trauma centre in Toronto to receive emergency surgery. Officials said on Tuesday that the man is currently still in the hospital in stable condition.
Police believe this was a targeted attack and are asking the public to help in identifying the suspects. The suspect who left the vehicle is approximately 5-foot-10 with a slim build, black clothes and black running shoes.
"Investigators are asking for any security camera footage from the area at the time, or dashcam video," said officers.
People with additional information are asked to contact Crime Stoppers or police.
