WATCH: Al Sharpton claims BLM mobs who cheer on violence against cops and Trump supporters may be 'plants'

"Some I suspect, in my own way of thinking could be planted in order to hurt us, because that is so extreme from our position," said Sharpton.

Rev. Al Sharpton appeared on MSNBC to provide his insight on the recent ambush shooting of two Los Angeles police officers this past weekend. Sharpton said that, by his logic, some of the protestors chanting for the death of police outside of the hospital following an ambush shooting in Los Angeles could have been "plants."

"The protestors that have been for months out there now, among them, should be saying 'we are not anti-police... We are there saying that police should not be killing and shooting innocent civilians... Some I suspect, in my own way of thinking could be planted in order to hurt us, because that is so extreme from our position," said Sharpton.

According to the LASD Twitter account, the two deputies—a male and a female—were ambushed as they sat in their patrol vehicle. They were with the LASD Transit Security Bureau.

Police say both officers sustained multiple gunshot wounds and are in critical condition. Both underwent critical surgery.

Protestors gathered outside the hospital on Sunday, chanting "We hope they die," and blocking emergency entrances.

"They were saying 'Death to the police' and 'Kill the police,' and these are sheriffs, but the message is still the same. They were using all types of curse words and derogatory terms," a witness told local news KABC. "Unacceptable behavior, because a hospital should be a sanctuary."
