Al Sharpton faced backlash from protesters Thursday at the Del Rio encampment where Haitian migrants amassed earlier this week.

Sharpton's group the National Action Network claimed the tour was to "meet and pray with refugees in the wake of the humanitarian crisis."

But as outlined by a Fox News report, Al Sharpton’s visit was intended to punctuate this week’s controversy over "whips" (horse reins) supposedly used on Haitian migrants.

The New York Post was able to suss some of what Sharpton said.

"We went for an hour and toured the place that we feel is a real catastrophic and human disgrace as people around this world watch the Border Patrol use slave-like techniques — mounted on horses," he told the crowd.

However as Sharpton attempted to make this speech, a crowd of protesters heckled him.

Among the heard phrases are: "why are you stoking racism where it doesn’t exist?", "why are you here advocating for violence?", and "we don’t want your racism in Texas, get out of here!"

Sharpton got more heated: "The Trump supporters and the right-wingers can scream all they want. We gon’ continue to come back. We gon’ stand with our people to make sure that asylum [seekers] is treated in one way and one manner. And we will continue to come back over and over again."

It was reported he demanded the Biden administration to halt all deportations of Haitian migrants.

Kelsey French, a wife to a border agent, and local reporter, shared her opinion was of Sharpton.

"He [incites] violence and riots. He is not pro-cop. Our community is very cop. We support our men and women in the green and the blue and every color that they wear. We love them. We don’t want him here we don’t want his trouble. Amen."

Sharpton left before taking any questions from the press.

His commentary mirrored comments made on Wednesday by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA).

Upon observing the viral photos of the clash between border agents and Haitian migrants, she concluded: "what we witnessed was worse than what we witnessed in slavery."

Despite Texas officials pointing out the distinction between horse reins and the alleged "whips," the Biden administration elected to discontinue the usage of horses Thursday by its border agents.

According to Bill Melugin of Fox News, most of the migrants in the Del Rio bridge area have left with the encampment being bulldozed.
