WATCH: Andy Ngo discusses how the media and leftist activists ignore hate crimes against Asians

"There are those who are politically cynical who use the suffering of Asian Americans, of black Americans, and other ethnic minorities for political purpose."

The Post Millennial’s Editor-at-Large recently went on Drew Hernandez’s "Frontlines" show to discuss current events.

The main theme of their discussion was surrounding the rise of anti-Asian hate crimes within the United States, especially how among leftist circles seem to be wilfully ignorant in addressing the problem when the perpetrators of these crimes are black.

Drew Hernandez plays a video that Andy Ngo shared earlier that showed a huge line of elderly Asian women in Chinatown, New York, who were there to buy pepper spray for self-defense.

"When I see that, it makes me actually really sad," Ngo said of the video. "I know some people see it as encouraging that you see mostly women, young women and older women, in that line. But I mean it’s a sign of the state losing its ability to protect its citizens."

Ngo points out it’s an omen of a failed state when they can’t offer safety and protection to the populace.

Andy’s Twitter account has documented a series of anti-Asian hate instances: black trans woman strikes Asian man with hammer, Asian-American reporter in Seattle threatened by Antifa for covering homeless encampments, Oakland robbery of Asian-American couple robbed at gunpoint by two black male suspects, the list goes on.

Hernandez sets up the discussion by mentioning how the far-left makes "everything about race." For him personally, it doesn’t matter the race of the victim, when it comes to seeing videos of people being brutally beaten.

He and Ngo discuss how there’s a double standard, asking Ngo, "why are they silent when it comes to stuff like this," showing a video of a black man punching an Asian person—that being the recent case of a Yonkers man who faces two felony hate crime charges for allegedly assaulting a 67-year-old elderly Asian woman.

"Why does the far left just go ‘total crickets’ when stuff like this happens?"

Ngo responds: "It’s not just the far-left, it's the mainstream left as well. Since Trump was elected into office, I think one of the very powerful Democrat party and liberal media talking points really crystallize around this talking point that white supremacy neo-nazism, ascendant fascism is the existential threat to America, and it was used partially to try to delegitimize former President Trump and his voters and supporters. And so, Stop Asian Hate, as a campaign, happened around because of the Atlanta massage parlor shootings, and it was used as a hammer to try to hurt then-President Trump, to try and blame him. They blamed him for the times he used harsh language against the Chinese government and the Chinese state for the Coronavirus pandemic."

He continues:

"So you know there are those who are politically cynical who use the suffering of Asian Americans, of black Americans, and other ethnic minorities for political purpose. They have no ability to respond, then, when they see over and over these viral videos of often other people of color – black man or black woman – brutally beating, robbing, assaulting Asian Americans, because they are unable to process that."

They choose to ignore it, Andy says.
