WATCH: Anti-shutdown protestor licks statue of Sir John A. MacDonald in defiance of coronavirus

An anti-lockdown protestor licked a statue at Queen's Park in Toronto today so to display his resentment over Canada's economic closures spurred by coronavirus fears.

"This is how afraid I am of the phony covid virus, just watch," said the man enthusiastically, before climbing upon the base of the statue, sticking out his tongue, and licking it.

After the man had licked the statue—which is of Canada's first Prime Minister Sir John A. MacDonald—he screamed "f*** propaganda, it's propaganda, I'm not afraid whoooo, big bad covid, it's gonna get you whoooo, I'm so scared."

"All you cowards out there, all you sissies," continued the man. "Stop being cowards, stop being sheep."

This man was apart of an assembly of an estimated 400 protesters who had gathered at Ontario's legislature to protest the lockdown. Those gathered chanted slogans like "Open up Ontario" and sang the Canadian national anthem.

Protests began in deviance of lockdown orders in April, and have continued on the following Saturdays. The first protest of this kind was organized and held in Queen's Park on April 25.

Complaints of those in attendance were the loss of income due to excessive coronavirus lockdown measures and the fining of those who were exercising their right to free assembly.

Organizers were expressing their support for small businesses, working class and the poor, as well as students.

Concerns were also raised about the mental health ramifications on those who are self-isolated, without work, and prevented from normal socializing activities.

One protestor out today confronted a CBC cameraman and told him that he was not welcome: "You're not really welcome here. CBC has basically destroyed this country... Honestly, you are a disgrace and you are destroying this country... You're not asking the hard questions. What's wrong with you?" he said.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford had previously called the protestors "a bunch of yahoos" for flouting social distancing rules and waving an upside-down Canadian flag during their demonstration, which particularly irked the premier.

The protestors intend to march to the corner of College and Spadina in downtown Toronto. The group has not sought permission to march according a source on the scene.
