Biden administration Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo spoke to MSNBC about vaccine mandates on Monday, denying that the mandates implemented by President Joe Biden on Thursday would pose a real problem for Americans at all.

"Nobody's being forced," Raimondo said. "In fact, if you don't get vaccinated, you just have to get tested on a weekly basis. But the reality is the science is crystal clear on this, get it get vaccinated."

Raimondo was responding to an MSNBC host who said that she was "puzzled by these people who continue to say they're forced to get vaccinated here. There's always been a choice."

"If you do not want to get vaccinated, you can work from home, you can homeschool your children, you can shop online," the host said. "So where is this coming from people saying I'm now being forced to be vaccinated. We never forced vaccinations on kids in school. If you didn't want to vaccinate your kids, you could homeschool them and people have done it for years."

"These vaccines are incredibly effective, Raimondo said. "They're effective, they are free, they work and we just, it's unacceptable. It is unacceptable now that people aren't getting vaccinated. We need our kids in schools. We need the schools open. We need people to get back to work. We need people flying on airplanes. We need people in restaurants we have too many Americans still out of work."

"And this is a simple, effective shot in the arm, if you will, that our economy needs and there's no reason not to get vaccinated at this point in time. That being said, You're not being forced, you can work from home you can get tested on a weekly basis. So I just think this is just smart public policy and great leadership by the president." Raimondo said.

It is unclear how many of the jobs Raimondo mentioned as needing to be filled are positions from which an employee could work from home. Most service sector jobs, such as restaurant service or cashiering, require an employee to be on site.

On Thursday, President Biden announced that American employers that have more than 100 workers will be required by the Department of Labor to compel their employees to be vaccination. The Daily Wire, along with the Republican National Committee and others, said that they would not comply with the new "workplace safety" rules.

It was less than a year ago that Biden said that there would be no imposition of vaccine mandates from a federal level.
