In the latest Blue's Clues music video, drag queen Nina West leads children in a sing-along pride parade, featuring gay, transgender, and non-binary animals.
The episode is intended to celebrate June as "Pride Month," showcasing songs about progressive families with two mothers and other LGBT imagery.
To the tune of "The Ants Go Marching," the animated drag queen encourages the young audience to praise gay, lesbian, pansexual, transgender, non-binary, and bisexual parents. The character is holding a microphone with the revolutionary "black power" fist symbol etched as an emblem.
The next floats feature a group of transgender beavers followed by a nondescript float with animals that chose "their own families." Next is a float for "allies of the queer community," and so on. The parade is surrounded by a flurry of flags common in the LGBT community, including the "aromantic" flag for individuals who have little or no romantic attraction to others, the "intersex" flag, the "pansexual" flag, the "genderqueer" flag, and so on.
Liberal media outlets have praised the display as, "What a perfect representation of love to show kids who may be watching." These types of scenes are not uncommon amongst children's entertainment, "drag queen story hour" has been a staple of many public buildings and libraries over the past few years.
