Attendees of Moscow, Idaho's Christ Church were arrested after their "psalm sing" in the city hall parking lot for violation of the town's mask and social distancing order.
Moscow Police Chief James Fry told DNews that of the 150 worshippers that convened, five were cited, with two arrested for suspicion of resisting or obstructing an officer. One was arrested but not charged with refusing to identify himself to police.
“We are here because we are frankly fed up with wearing masks. With 400 cases and zero hospitalizations, this is not an emergency. The flu is worse than this every single year. Now it is 'Okay what's next?' Forced vaccinations? We are not giving in. So we hear mandatory masks and it is a good time to stand up," said Jesse Broussard, who also received a citation from police, to the Moscow Report.
Pastor Douglas Wilson of Christ Church—which organized the event—told attendees that being present could lead to being cited by police. Many of the faithful chose to sing hymns anyway.
Roughly 10 Moscow police officers were present at the event, according to the Moscow Report.
