Conservative Party MPs are wondering why the Trudeau Liberals have still not yet designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a terrorist group.
Conservative MPs Shannon Stubbs and Marty Morantz pressed Liberal Minister for Foreign Affairs Marc Garneau on the matter Tuesday, to which Garneau admitted that "Iran had failed to be open and accountable for the actions they committed against flight PS752," once again falling short of condemning the IRGC.
The IRGC was found responsible by Ontario's Superior Court of Justice for shooting down Flight PS752 in 2020, killing 176 on board, including 55 Canadian citizens and 30 permanent residents, with the event being called a terrorist attack.
United States President Donald Trump labelled the group a terrorist entity in 2019, with the Trudeau government expected to follow in their footsteps.
Liberal and Conservatives MPs voted in the House of Commons in June 2018 to list the entire Revolutionary Guard as a terror group, with no action having taken place since.
Canada previously designated the IRGC's Quds Force a terrorist group in 2017.
