Rep. Jamal Bowman (D-NY) took to MSNBC on Thursday to discuss the ongoing occupation of Washington DC by the National Guard.

"It's something we have to do unfortunately, because the threat of white nationalists and white supremacists is real," Bowman insisted. "They are continuing to organize and galvanize across this country. There are many examples of them infiltrating law enforcement across this country."

Bowman did not provide any examples to support such claims.

"So we have to make sure the Capitol is protected and our elected officials are protected, but we also have to be proactive. You know, we cannot take the threat of white nationalism lightly," Bowman continued. "Over the last several years they have made their presence felt."

Bowman brought up a number of examples of such white supremacy, one of which took place in New Zealand. He also falsely claimed that the storming of Capitol Hill by pro-Trump rioters on Jan 6 was motivated by white supremacy, while evidence has shown that less than three percent of those arrested in connection with the event were motivated by racist ideology.

5,000 National Guardsmen currently remain in Washington DC.
