Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced on Friday that the areas that regions of the Toronto-area currently in lockdown will continue to be in lockdown. Lockdowns were set to expire on Monday, Dec. 21.
"The trends we're seeing throughout Ontario are very, very concerning. And nothing is more important to our government and the people of Ontario, is to make sure we protect the health and safety of each and every single person," said Ford.
Ford announced earlier today that he requested an emergency meeting with "CEOs of all hospitals in Ontario, I want to listen to what's happening on the ground, within the hospitals, within ICU units."
"We're going to have an emergency meeting over the weekend and we'll make a decision on Monday, we'll be announcing Monday at 1 o'clock moving forward... We're going to continue on with the lockdowns within those regions and we'll have additional information on Monday," Ford concluded.
