Premier Doug Ford addressed media Thursday, providing an update on the situation surround the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ford started by saying he was glad the federal government approved the provincial request for military aid, saying that they have literally brought in the troops.

"Nothing is off the table," said Ford.

Ford announced that there would be changes to the reporting mechanisms on the spread of coronavirus, especially in long-term care homes.

Ford also announced the COVID action plan for vulnerable people, which would follow up on measures already set in place.

Ford says that screening and mandatory testing would be taking place at any outbreak sight.

"We're all in on this fight," Ford continued. During the address, Ford had a somber moment, expressing that the system needed to be changed to ensure that those in long term care homes were protected.

The Ford government says they are taking "immediate action" to protect vulnerable actions, including a series of actions to be put in place over the next 48 ours.

This will include heightened testing and screening, to stabilize outbreaks at vulnerable settings.

Visitors, staff, an residents, making the use of masks mandatory in high-risk settings, and limiting staff to work for just one employer.

The plan will also focus on maintaining staffing levels and managing staff shortages, by leveraging workers with equivalent skills from other community agencies.
