Doug Ford took to Twitter on Sunday to share a video encouraging unity in Ontario and admitting that mass vaccinations wont arrive in Ontario until April.
"Folks, over the last year, we've all band together, we've stuck together as team Ontario," Ford said. "I'm asking one more time, we need to band together."
Ford said that Ontario would "be seeing some turbulent waters" in the coming months, further admitting that mass vaccinations of the general Ontarian population will not arrive until "April, May, and June."
Ford has been criticized for his handling of vaccinations, particularly in regard to his government's decision to slow down the vaccination process during the holidays.
The Ford government, however, has claimed that the problem is a matter of supply, and that the federal government has not acquired enough vaccines for the province. The government expects to run out of Pfizer vaccines in the coming weeks, but says it will receive a bundle of Moderna vaccines on Monday. The doses, however, are only to cover residents and staff of long-term care homes.
"Until then, for the next few months, you need to practice social distancing and washing hands," Ford insisted.
