A chilling video shows an assault taking place in the middle of a Las Vegas high school classroom. The victim is hit in the head 30 times in the course of the video, while other students laugh and the teacher appears afraid to intervene.

At first, the student tries to defend herself but then collapses on her desk and just takes the blows from her fellow female student without any further resistance. She lies motionless with her head down at the end of the graphic and horrifying video.

"Stop, stop, stop. Get off of her," comments the teacher, but does not get involved any further. At about the halfway point in the 25-second video, some students can be heard nervously laughing.

"I am only sharing this simply to bring awareness to other parents or people for that matter, on how this sad joke of a school system ACTUALLY is," the video is captioned.

According to local outlet KTNV, it's is "not clear what injuries she [the victim] sustained or what condition she is in." There also appears to be no information yet about which school this horrible incident took place in.

Clark County School District, however, did release a statement talking about the incident, saying simply that "in general, students can face administrative disciplinary action at school or be referred to law enforcement for possible criminal prosecution depending on the severity of the matter."

The school district claimed they couldn't further comment on the matter, due to privacy issues. The school district's police department did, however, mention that a student was "cited for battery" on Wednesday following the incident.
