The President and the Vice President maintained their "pandemic of the unvaccinated" mantra amidst the latest CDC guidance decision dictating the American public will need to remask indoors if in a "high risk" area of transmission.

As the New York Post points out, while there's no local mask mandate in DC at the moment, Harris nonetheless told a gathered crowd of reporters to mask up at an afternoon meeting.

"The only way we're gonna cut this thing off… nobody likes wearing a mask. Get vaccinated," said Vice President Kamala Harris from behind a dark black mask when talking to the press.

It was at a joint event between the VP and Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland. The occasion marked the first time since the CDC announced their latest guidance that even vaccinated persons need to wear masks to protect against this new "Delta" variant if in a high-risk area.

It came on so hastily that the White House Correspondents' Association had to clarify that the immediate White House vicinity was updating for this new "local mask mandate" even though the DC area in of itself hasn’t had time yet to make such considerations.

It was earlier on Wednesday that news leaked out about the CDC's reversal of their mask recommendations. Whereas before they claimed that people who were vaccinated against COVID were free to go maskless, now they too must dig up their masks again in light of this "Delta" variant from India.

This news comes as the US had been trying to acclimate to the previous CDC guidance. For school settings, for instance, it left the state of California up to decide that everyone regardless of vaccination needed to wear masks when attending or working in school settings.

Elsewhere different parts of international society are attempting to either implement or weigh the benefits of mandatory vaccine passports. These gatekeeping mechanisms for allowing the continuance of daily life have been responded with by protests, internationally.

Monday it was announced the Department of Veterans Affairs would be moving forward with mandatory workplace vaccinations.
