A massive fire has ignited in a market in Ajman, UAE and a hospital has had to evacuate as a result.
The fire reportedly started around 6:30 p.m. at the Iranian souq on Wednesday and has sent thick plumes of black smoke into the sky, reports National UAE.
The fire is located close to Ajman Specialty Hospital as well as a fruit market near the industrial area. Authorities evacuated the medical facility as a precautionary measure.
The souq has not been open for a number of months due to coronavirus safety measures.
Fire fighters have responded to the scene and are working to contain the giant fire. No injuries have been reported at this time and the extent of damage is still unknown.
The souq is one of Ajman’s popular attractions and draws in many visitors.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
