The video is dashcam footage from the State Police car, which shows the scene of the accident, with the cab of an 18-wheeler in the foreground and the burning car just behind it.
The man, who lives in Plymouth, Mich., and is 56 years of age, was rescued by Trooper Daniel Drewyor just before the vehicle was engulfed by the flames. His five-year-old grandson had already managed to exit the vehicle on his own.
According to a local Fox News channel, the man is in stable condition in hospital and expected to make a full recovery. The grandson had very minor injuries that did not require hospitalization.
At this time, authorities believe that the crash was caused by the driver driving too fast on the icy roads of the interstate.
