An Ottawa man woke up to rather Canadian surprise on Friday morning when he came out to his backyard only to find a moose cooling off in his swimming pool, according to CTV News.

Paul Koch is the homeowner who resides near Hunt Club Road and Uplands Drive where the moose spent several hours in the pool, eventually moving to the shallow end so it could stand up.

It wasn't easy to tell whether or nor the moose even wanted out of the pool or was simply enjoying an opportunity to cool off during a record breaking hot May.

The moose did climb out of the pool around 10:30 a.m. and then proceeded to hop the fence of the backyard. The moose remains on the loose.

The Ministry of Natural Resources was contacted about the moose by Koch who said there is a tear in his pool's lining after the moose kicked it.

Police saw the moose heading into the woods after crossing Hunt Club Road and running along Uplands Drive.
