WATCH: Pete Buttigieg tells The View that Florida's anti-grooming bill 'will kill kids'

Biden's Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg appeared on The View Friday morning and affirmed his husband Chasten Buttigieg's statements that bills that prevent teachers from grooming children into gender identity "will kill kids."

"Your husband Chasten is a teacher and he's been a vocal critic of what's going on in my state of Florida when the with the so-called 'don't say gay law' now," The View's Ana Navarro asked, "which he says kids do you agree and you know as a politician because this strikes you as you know your husband is a teacher. You are obviously LGBTQ yourself and you're now a parent. So how do you feel?"

"Yeah, he's right," Buttigieg said. "And I think every law to be judged for the effect it's going to have on real people in real life. And I get the political reasons why they're doing this. By the way, some of those political reasons. They don't have a plan on anything else, right. I mean, they don't have a plan on dealing with inflation or dealing with gas prices or dealing with the issues."

Navarro complained about life in Florida, and Buttigieg replied saying that passing laws that ensure parental rights in education, such as the one DeSantis signed, is "easier politically," but that "this is going to hurt people."

Chasten Buttigieg, a middle school teacher, was caught on tape mocking the pledge of allegiance with a group of LGBTQ+ kids at a "gay camp."

"I pledge my heart, to the rainbow, of the Not So Typical gay camp, one camp, full of pride, indivisible, with affirmation and equal rights for all," Buttigieg says in a call and response before waving a large rainbow flag.

At the camp, Buttigieg gave a short interview about being on the campaign trail with husband Buttigieg, who was running to be the Democrat nominee for president that year. He failed in his bid, but was appointed Transportation Secretary by President Biden, who won the nom and the presidency.

Iowa Safe Schools, which hosts the Pride Camp, thanked Buttigieg for attending, saying that "Our campers have seen first-hand that an LBGTQ individual can be a leading candidate for president thanks to Chasten and @PeteButtigieg!"
