WATCH: Psaki is asked why allies of Biden are describing him as 'Trump-like'

During a press briefing from the White House on Thursday, Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked about comparisons US allies are making about similarities between President Joe Biden and his predecessor, President Donald Trump. And she didn't like it one bit.

"There've been a number of issues in the last say several weeks in which allies of the president are describing him as 'Trump-like,'" the reporter said, "less in terms of his personality and tone and tenor, obviously, but in terms of policy... What's the president's reaction, and does he accept that in some areas of policy he is in agreement with the former president?"

Psaki wanted to know "Who? Who is saying the president is like Trump?"

Psaki wanted to know what policies.

The reporter brought up the fact that Cuban leaders have been displeased that Biden's policies toward Cuba are similar to Trump's policies toward Cuba. He mentioned that many in the immigration policy sector have concerns that the Biden administration is still using Title 42 as a means to manage illegal migrants at the border.

France's President Macron, he said, had also noted a striking similarity between Biden's negotiations with the UK and Australia, as part of the recent AUKUS agreement, and how Trump would conduct his negotiations, primarily through bilateral deals. Also at issue was the departure from Afghanistan, which was a Trump policy.

"So look, I take each one of these," Psaki said. "On Afghanistan, the former president struck a deal without the Afghan government that we heard the military convey yesterday led to the demoralization of the Afghan security forces and the Afghan government, where he also released 5,000 Taliban fighters into Afghanistan. I would say the President took a pretty different approach than that and ending war that the former President didn't end something the American people strongly support as it relates to office. I'm not even sure what that's referring to in terms of what they're comparing."

On the AUKUS deal, Psaki said, "The President worked with key partners, Australia and the United Kingdom, to come to an agreement that would help provide security and an important part of the world in the Indo-Pacific a priority that, frankly, getting out of the war in Afghanistan leaves space for us to spend more time addressing.

"The last one," she said, "immigration. Immigration Title 42, tariffs on China, I mean, Title 42 is a public health requirement, because we're in the middle of a pandemic, which by the way, we would have made progress on had the former president actually addressed the pandemic and not suggested people inject bleach. So I think we're in a bit of a different place."

Trump never told anyone to "inject bleach" as an alternative COVID treatment as Psaki suggested.

At the time of the "bleach controversy" Trump clarified: "It wouldn’t be through injections, almost a cleaning and sterilization of an area. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t work, but it certainly has a big effect if it’s on a stationary object."
