White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki repeated a false claim Wednesday, suggesting that former President Trump told Americans to "inject poison."

Fox News' Peter Doocy asked Psaki whether President Biden "created some vaccine hesitancy" last year when he said he didn't trust Donald Trump as his administration rushed to get a vaccine authorized.

Psaki said, "I would note at the time, just for context, the former President was suggesting people inject versions of poison into their veins to cure COVID."

"And Joe Biden, then Vice-President, was saying we got to wait until something is fully authorized and it's still not," replied Doocy.

In reality, Trump did not suggest that Americans inject "poison." Here is Trump's full quote that he later walked back.

"I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute," Trump said during Thursday's coronavirus press briefing. "And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets inside the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that."

Trump later claimed that he was being "sarcastic" when he made the suggestion about disinfectant.

Biden was one of many Democrats who repeatedly vocalized vaccine hesitancy concerning President Trump's "Operation Warp speed" program. This was the same program that led to the rollout of the currently available vaccines.

Specifically, President Biden has said, "I trust vaccines, I trust scientists, but I don't trust Donald Trump and at this moment, the American people can't either."
