WATCH: Skateboarders ride down Toronto's Gardiner Expressway

Toronto police are looking into a video that shows three skateboarders riding down Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway.

The footage shows three people riding skateboards down what looks like the York-Bay-Younge off-ramp, reports BlogTO.

The skateboarders do a few tricks and slides down the ramp heading west and turn north upon reaching the bottom.

The original poster of the video is still unknown though many social media users credit the Instagram account of skateboarder Morgan Smith.

Smith’s account does not currently show the video though it was credited when a handful of social media users re-posted the video.

A version of the video that was posted to TikTok by the account @6ixdripTV is gaining the attention of both fans and police.

"Skateboards are treated as toys so anybody on a skateboard is treated as a pedestrian," said Const. David Hopkinson when speaking with CP24 News about the video on Tuesday.

"There are no pedestrians or people allowed on the highways, the 400 series highways, at all. It is completely against the law."

Hopkinson noted that the skateboarders could receive fines of around $110.

"We are talking about skateboarders wearing black on an all-black asphalt highway. Difficult to see," he said. "If they were to stumble, hit a rock [or] fall, cars might have difficulty stopping before they struck them. That is why we don't allow pedestrians on the highways."
