WATCH: Stacey Abrams DODGES question about limits on abortion

"We're going to make a medical decision that should made with medical input, not at the whim of politicians," said Abrams, a politician who became a millionaire after her failed 2018 run for governor.

Today on CNN's State of the Union, Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams refused to articulate any restrictions on abortion.

Abrams told Jake Tapper that she believes "there should be a federal law that allows women to have the choices to have reproductive choice and reproductive justice."

Tapper asked Abrams directly, "Do you think the government should play any role in restricting abortion as governor? What restrictions would you be willing to support in Georgia, if any?"

"My first responsibility is to protect the life and the welfare of the women in the state and to make it safe for them to make medical choices," Abrams answered, insinuating that the reversal of Roe v. Wade will lead to deadly consequences for women.

Abrams said that a federal law mandating abortion was the only way to ensure it continues in America, a belief echoed by President Joe Biden and many other Democrats.

Abrams also rejected that abortion is a moral issue saying, "Those medical choices should not be governed by someone's religious or ideological condition."

"We're going to make a medical decision that should made with medical input, not at the whim of politicians," said Abrams, a politician who became a millionaire after her failed 2018 run for governor.

Abrams continued on to say, "I believe that Georgia should do what is right for the women of our state." Abrams recently lambasted her own state and said it was the "worst state" to live in.

In a separate interview on Fox News, Abrams again dodged the question on whether or not she supports limitations on abortion saying, "That should be a choice made between a doctor and a woman."

Abrams will again face Georgia Governor Brian Kemp in the upcoming gubernatorial election in November.
