Liberal Environment Minister Jonathan Wilkinson criticized the newly revealed Conservative climate plan on Thursday, calling it a plan that will "do less and cost more."

Wilkinson attacked the plan over its vagueness, and went so far as to call it the "Erin O'Toole carbon tax."

"There is no mention of science, no numbers about how much these policies will cost consumers, no incentives to help Canadians afford an electric vehicle or retrofit their homes to help them save money and energy," said Wilkinson.

"And though I'm not sure Erin O'Toole would describe it as such, it looks to me that this so-called plan includes an Erin O'Toole carbon tax. It cuts less pollution, it costs more, and it takes away the climate incentive rebates for families and replaces it with some sort of 'Petro Points' scheme where the more you burn, the more you earn... This is not a plan that will do less and cost more from a party that doesn't even think climate change is real," he said.

O'Toole's plan involves scrapping the Trudeau carbon tax altogether and introducing a plan that involves  a "low carbon savings account."

"This will maintain a consumer price on carbon, but without one penny going to the government," said O'Toole. "Instead, every time Canadians buy hydro-carbon-based fuel, they will pay into their low carbon savings account, which they will manage and use towards purchases that will help them lower their carbon footprint, improve the efficiency of their home, and live a greener life."

The plan will also consider taxing those with a second residency, as well as taxes on those who fly frequently, or use non-electric luxury vehicles to "deter activities that hurt the environment."
