Procurement Minister Anita Anand appeared on CBC's Power & Politics yesterday, where she avoided questions from Vassy Kapelos on whether or not the prime minister has spoken directly to the CEO of Pfizer, Albert Bourla.
This comes after it was announced that, due to manufacturing issues at Pfizer, Canada would not receive its regular doses of the vaccine for January. Canada will not be receiving any shipments of the vaccine in the last week of January.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told Canadians last week that his government had reached an agreement with Pfizer to purchase 20 million additional vaccine doses, once again citing Canada's large vaccine portfolio.
Trudeau also said that between now and June, 20 million Canadians would be able to get vaccinated, and that he had hopes to fast-track the delivery of vaccines, though September 2021 remains the goal for full vaccination.
