President Donald Trump suggested in an appearance on FOX News on Sunday that he would consider appointing a special counsel to investigate remaining questions surrounding the 2016 presidential election.
"I would consider a special prosecutor," Trump told the news network, commenting that he believes "special counsel" to be a pleasant-sounding euphemism for a special prosecutor.
The President complained that he was subject to a three-year special counsel investigation, referring to the so-called Russiagate scandal investigation by Robert Mueller, which he has frequently described as a "hoax."
The President suggested that a new special counsel investigation could look into the actions of James Comey and Andrew McCabe of the FBI, both of whom were fired by the Trump administration.
