Canada sits among the top of the Biden administration's list for countries to eventually be gifted vaccines, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said during Wednesday's press conference.
"Our first strategy is to ensure the American people are vaccinated—1400 people a day are still dying a day in the US, so were still fighting the pandemic right here... any decision we make about requests, and we have them from around the world, as you know... will ensure that we're still able to quickly vaccinate the American people as that remains our top priority," she said.
"We have received requests from both Mexico and Canada and we are considering those requests carefully, but I don't have any update for you on whether they will be granted and a timeline for that."
The US, which has had one of the most effective vaccine rollouts in the world, has been requested to share those vaccines by Mexico, and Ontario Premier Doug Ford has specifically called upon the Trudeau government to request aid from the US.
