A viral video shows a "Liberal Santa" making a young boy cry, after flatly rejecting the child's request for a Nerf gun for Christmas.

"No guns, not even a Nerf gun," Santa can be heard saying. "Nope, if your dad wants to get it for you, that's fine. But I can't bring it to you."

"Don't cry!" says Santa, after making the boy cry.

Luckily for the child, the mother can be heard saying "you'll still get it," when asked by the boy if he'd get the toy gun.

Many online condemned the Santa. "I wish he would say that to one of my kids!! Please!!" said one parent.

Music video director Robby Starbuck tweeted an update to the story, saying that he has made contact with the boy in the video's mother, and will be sending a "Nerf care package."

"His mom Sabella says she's so appreciative of the support they've received today and she thanks everyone for the love!" said Starbuck.
