Police in New Brunswick have seized dozens of weapons and drugs that are connected to an ongoing investigation and two women have been arrested, according to CTV News. The search in total saw the seizure of over 185 items.
RCMP responded to call regarding two vehicles that were on fire in a driveway off of Route 635 on May 9. They believed the fires to be deliberate and decided to execute a search inside the residence of the driveway the following day.
The search resulted in the discovery of 31 long guns and 22 hand guns, 24 of which were restricted or prohibited fire arms. Many of the firearms were also loaded with some having the serials numbers scratched off, revealed police in a Wednesday press conference.
In addition to the weapons, police also seized over three kilograms of what is suspected to be cocaine and another 5.5. kilograms of what is suspected to be crystal methamphetamine. A large stock of ammunition and Canadian currency were also found and confiscated from the home.
"This is a large quantity of dangerous drugs and firearms that have been safely removed from our communities," RCMP Cpl. Jullie Rogers-Marsh told the press. "This is an ongoing investigation and police are encouraging anyone with information that could assist investigators to contact police or Crime Stoppers."
A warrant has also been issued for the arrest of Monique Boyer, a 27-year-old, for possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition without a licence or registration.
On Monday night Boyer was caught and arrested and will have to appear via phone in Fredricton provincial court on Tuesday. Boyer was remanded into custody and will return to court for a bail hearing on Friday.
Another woman was also arrested although police have not revealed her identity. She is 41-years-old and believed to be connected with the investigation however she has since be released on an undertaking.
