Law enforcement has identified the woman who leaped to her death from a Midtown luxury high-rise Sunday as former pageant winner 30-year-old Cheslie Kryst, who won the coveted Miss USA title back in 2019.
Kryst, who had been working as a lawyer, is believed to have thrown herself off the 60-story Orion building located at West 42nd Street, where she was last spotted on a 29th-floor terrace. She was found dead at street-level below.
Right before she jumped, Kryst posted on Instagram a message to her over 200,000 followers that reads: "May this day bring you rest and peace."
As of yet, no information is available indicating a possible motive for Kryst's apparent suicide. Kyrst did leave a note behind, however, according to sources.
Kryst left behind a note saying she wanted to leave everything to her mother, who herself is a former pageant competitor crowned Mrs. North Carolina back in 2002, according to the New York Post. The note didn't include a motive either.
"Not only beautiful but she was smart — she was a lawyer," a police source said of Kryst, according to the New York Post. "She has a life that anyone would be jealous of … It's so sad," the law enforcement source stated.
The tragic incident over the weekend is similar to a fatal fall that happened in mid-July when a 60-year-old woman held her tiny lap dog as she jumped off a 46-story luxury Midtown apartment building, leaving both dead in the aftermath.
