In April, a Maine woman was killed by a couple who were after prescription pills Xanax and money. An autopsy showed that she had been stabbed 484 times during the altercation.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Kimberley Neptune was found dead in her Pleasant Point, Maine by her brother on April 21.

Donnell Dana and Kailee Brackett, both from nearby Perry, Maine, were subsequently arrested and charged with her murder.

A police affidavit that was made public on Wednesday shed light on the details of the gruesome incident.

Prior to allegedly carrying out the deed, Brackett had accused Neptune of stealing money. On April 20, the two women, who Brackett claimed were "seeing each other," arranged to meet up the following night.

Dana, with whom Brackett has a child, used to live with Neptune, although he claimed it was never anything serious. When he showed up at the house with Brackett, Neptune got upset, at which point Dana allegedly attacked her.

The pair stole jewelry, money, and Xanax from Neptune as they carried out the attack, stabbing her 484 times in the legs, stomach, neck and head.

As the Daily News reports, Dana allegedly told a witness that it was "a fight that got out of control." His blood was found at the scene, and signs of an altercation were visible on his body, however when police questioned him, he denied killing Neptune.

Both he and Brackett have been held without bail at the Washington County Jail in Machias, Maine since May.

Neptune, a member of the Passamaquoddy Tribe, was described in her obituary as being known for her "big heart and gentle soul."

"She was always available to help in the time of need for our Sipayik Tribal Government," it continued, adding that her "passion and most cherished moments was spending time with her brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, family and many friends."
