Medical workers from Wuhan said they were told by the Communist government of China to cover up evidence of death and human-human transmission of the coronavirus, a new ITV documentary called "Outbreak: The Virus That Shook The World" revealed.

The documentary, which will be released Tuesday, explores "the dramatic global story of the first year of Covid-19, tracing the devastation caused by the spread of the virus across four continents."

The documentary showed that Wuhan medical workers were instructed in December "not to tell the truth" about the nature of the coronavirus' spread or that people had died after being infected with it, one month before the World Health Organization (WHO) was informed about the true behavior of the virus, The Daily Wire reported.

The workers also claimed that some Wuhan locals wanted to cancel the Lunar New Year festival out of fear of the spread, but the festivities were held regardless to "present a harmonious and prosperous society."

One of the Wuhan medics said, “We all felt there shouldn’t be any doubt about human-to-human transmission." A different medic told the filmmakers, "We knew this virus transmitted from human-to-human. But when we attended a hospital meeting, we were told not to speak out. The provincial leaders told the hospitals not to tell the truth."

A WHO panel said Monday, "What is clear to the panel is that public health measures could have been applied more forcefully by local and national health authorities in China in January." As late a mid-January, 2020, the WHO was still saying that there was no evidence of human transmission of the virus and said it trusted the response of the Chinese government, the Daily Mail reported.
