Amos Yee is a former YouTuber who was banned from the platform in 2018 after years of sharing outrageous content which included pedophilia activism.

He rose to internet notoriety after being arrested in Singapore in 2015 for taking to the internet to mock the death of former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. He was found guilty and sentenced to jail. Free speech advocates and multiple human rights organizations all across the world defended him and his right to engage in offensive comedy, and he was able to successfully flee to the United States seeking political asylum.

No one could have guessed how far Yee would stretch the limits of his new found freedom of speech in America. Eventually, he began publicly defending pedophiles and sexual acts with children. In November of 2017, he published three Youtube videos entitled Why Pedophilia is Alright, Don’t Discriminate Pedophiles, and Free Speech For The Pedophile.

At the time, Yee claimed that while he held these beliefs, he had not personally made sexual contact with any children. Many of the individuals across the internet that had previously defended and platformed him began to feel disgusted that they had fought for him, and others assumed that he had to be trolling in an attempt to exercise free speech to its limit.

Unfortunately but perhaps unsurprisingly, it came to pass that Amos Yee did, in fact, make contact with an underage girl in Texas. He’s now behind bars after being charged with solicitation and possession of child pornography. He exchanged photos with a 14 year old over the phone, who then reached out to an anti-pedophilia group online with the evidence. The group turned the text messages over to the authorities and began to help them build a case against him.

Yee is being held on a $1 million bail and barred from using the internet while behind bars. His asylum case in the United States could be terminated if he’s convicted, and he’s due in court on Nov 5th.

I have been personally aware of Yee for years now, and I actually debated him on the morality of pedophilia several years ago on YouTube. For all the details about this story, you can watch my new YouTube video about Yee below.
