Actor Mark Ruffalo, who has repeatedly stigmatized those who disagree with him on Twitter, including labeling them as fascists, openly called for more top-down, authoritarian, government control to regulate Twitter under owner Elon Musk's direction on Thursday,
Ruffalo tweeted, "As a worldwide 'public square,' this app should be heavily regulated for misinformation & spamming by hostile interests. If Elon can’t do that with his 'company,' it should be seen as a public utility under governmental supervision. This system unregulated will be more deadly.
Backlash was swift and biting on Twitter.
"And only people who think as you do should be trusted to do that right?" wrote Lyndsey Fifield.
Dan Andros followed up, "Just create a government office of misinformation what could possibly go wrong."
A few other tweets threw a few Marxist and Communist barbs at Ruffalo.
Ruffalo, who has pushed the boundaries of credulity and suspension of disbelief by portraying scientists in his acting work, has labeled those he disagrees with in the past as fascists.
The actor, like many Leftists, has invoked the moniker fascism without any clear understanding of what the term means or its historical origin. One of its central features is top-down, centralized, authoritarian governmental control, something Ruffalo has been advocating with regard to Twitter for weeks.
Some on Twitter noticed this hypocrisy.
Earlier in November Ruffalo pushed for more government control on Twitter and retweeted a claim by New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
