Elston showed up at Grandview Park in Vancouver where they were hosting a "Trans Day of Visibility" Rally and immediately upon his arrival activists began harassing him, which escalated into an incident where Eslton received a cut on his nose. On Twitter, he said this was the time that he called 911, and the police showed up within minutes.
Elston was then assaulted again as police seemed to stand by and watch the tensions boil over. Elston was conducting an interview as trans activists began to surround him and shout expletives. One activist was shouting in his ear, and as he attempted to move away he was grabbed by the throat and tossed to the ground.
Police stepped in to prevent any further harm to Elston at that point. In the aftermath the investigating officer stated on camera that Elston came to the park that day to "incite violence by forcing his opinion on people. Saturday on Twitter the Vancouver Police Department announced that they have launched an investigation into the incident.
We support everyones right to peacefully assemble and protest, but we will also hold people accountable for acts of violence and criminal behavior," Vancouver Police said.
Elston travels the United States and Canada going to events with his signs to protest the medicalization of minors who identify as transgender. He wears sandwich boards with messages such as "children can not consent to puberty blockers" in hopes of striking up meaningful conversations and help educate the public of the harms being done to children.
In March of 2021 Eslton had his arm broken while standing on Saint-Catherines street in Québec. September 2022, Eston hosted a protest of the Bostons Childrens Hospital. The protest was in response to videos showing the life altering procedures the hospital performs going viral online. Far left activists tried to shut the protest down, but the police were able to keep each side separated. Due to this event many on the right have been blamed for inciting a Bomb threat at the hospital.
This comes at a time where tensions are high with trans activists. Last weekend women's rights activist Kellie-Jay Keen was mobbed and had tomato juice poured on her at her Let Women Speak rally in New Zealand. On Monday, a trans identified female killed six people at a christian school in Nashville. Trans activists have stormed multiple state capitals in protest of what they consider "anti-trans" legislation.
No arrest have been made as of reporting in Elston's assault.
