A trans-identified male influencer is under investigation after viciously attacking a woman while she was holding a six-month-old baby in Sobral, Brazil.

According to Reduxx, local police announced that Jhoy Vanderwaal, a biological male social media influencer that identifies as female with more than 14,000 Instagram followers, was being investigated for causing intentional bodily injury to a woman whom the suspect accused of "gossip."

In CCTV footage released by the police, Vanderwaal is seen standing on a narrow street with a group of three men when a motorcycle drives by with a female passenger sitting on the back holding a baby. Vanderwaal swiftly reaches out and grabs the victim by the hair and throws her and the baby off the motorcycle.

When the two hit the ground, Vanderwall can be seen hitting the woman repeatedly on the head with a bottle, which at one point flies out of Vanderwall's hand due to the amount of force being used, so Vanderwall continues to beat the woman’s head using a fist until a group of people rush to her aid and pull the attacker off her.

Throughout this brutal assault, the six-month-old baby is lying on the ground. It is not yet known whether the baby was injured, nor is it known whether the victim is the child’s mother.

Reduxx reports that Vanderwaal is under investigation for causing intentional bodily injury, but that this announcement was met with angry calls for the influencer to face stiffer charges of both attempted murder as well as a crime against a child. Many fear that a single charge of causing intentional bodily injury will not result in a prison sentence.

Brazilian women on Instagram came together to mass report the influencer’s account which was initially set to private and has since been taken down. Vanderwaal has a mostly inactive Twitter account, but people have been expressing their disgust at the attack all the same.

According to Reduxx, Brazil is now one of the most dangerous countries in the world to be female, with femicide rates increasing while the overall murder rates decrease.
