One Israeli was killed and three others were injured during a shooting attack by a Hamas terrorist at the Chain Gate in the Old City section of Jerusalem Sunday morning.

The Jerusalem Post reported that the shooting occured near the end of the Arab market which is on the way down to the Western Wall. According to Israeli police there were two attackers, one was neutralized and died from his injuries.
One of the attackers was armed with a Carlo submachine gun and the other was armed with a knife. The terrorist wielding the knife is still at large. There are also unconfirmed reports that the shooter was disguised as a haredi Jewish man.

According to Magen David Adom, Eliyahu David Kay, who had immigrated from South Africa to Israel, was killed in the attack. Kay was a tour guide for the Western Wall Heritage Foundation.

Rabbi Zeev Katzenelnbogen was wounded in the attack when a bullet hit him in the arm as he was returning home from morning prayers and the other was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in moderate condition. A picture was posted online of Katzenelnbogen’s tefillin, black boxes equipped with leather straps and containing verses from the Torah used by Jewish men during weekday morning services, bloody after the shooting. Two other victims are in light condition and were taken to Hadassah-University Medical Center in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem.

The Temple Mount was reportedly closed to all visitors immediately after the attack, but was reopened an hour later.
Doctor Aryeh Jaffe, a volunteer doctor with United Hatzalah, told local media: "We are treating one person who was critically injured and another who is in moderate condition and conscious along with two others who sustained light injuries. We treated the injured at the scene, including performing CPR on the injured person who is in critical condition. He was taken to the hospital while still undergoing CPR."
Sources told The Post Millennial that nearby schools and institutions have been put on lockdown. Video taken of the scene allegedly showed a body lying in the street.
The terrorist group Hamas praised the attack and called it a "heroic operation." Interior Minister Omar Bar-Lev says that the attack was premeditated and identified the terrorist as Hamas member Fadi Abu Shkhaydam.

This the second terror attack this week in the Old City. On Wednesday, two Border Policemen were wounded in a stabbing attack by a terrorist. The suspect was neutralized by a local rabbi.
