Evolutionary biologist Dr. Colin Wright returned to Twitter on Friday, after being suspended on Sunday morning for a cartoon depicting the popular philosophical thought experiment, the "trolley problem." Wright was locked out of his account and received notice from Twitter describing the offending tweet, captioned "trans activism in a nutshell," as "hateful conduct."
When Wright shared the cartoon on Friday, it went viral, drawing the attention of transgender activists who reported the post to Twitter.
"I was locked out of my Twitter account for posting a political cartoon utilizing the classic philosophy 'Trolley Problem' to illustrate the issues with modern trans activism. It violated their rules against 'hateful conduct,' according to Twitter," Wright said to The Post Millennial after the suspension was lifted. "I immediately began the appeal process, and heard nothing from Twitter. Then, today, which happens to be my birthday, my account was unlocked."
According to Wright, the un-suspension was not followed by any communication from Twitter support.
"I received no notification or email from Twitter saying they had made a mistake or that my appeal was successful. My account was simply unlocked," he said.
The cartoon was initially created as cover art for an article by Eliza Mondegreen on Wright's publication, Reality's Last Stand, titled "Trans Activism and the Road Not Taken," which argued that trans activism could have and should have pursued the path of advocating for "reasonable accommodations" for people with gender dysphoria, instead of pursuing a path of forcing others to accept radical gender ideology.
"The cartoon was not promoting hate or violence to any community, but merely highlighting the harmful excesses of trans activism that denies biological reality and infringes upon the rights and safety of other groups," Wright said to The Post Millennial after being suspended.
Twitter has been cracking down on gender critical voices due to pressure from activists, who call it "stochastic terrorism."
Unfortunately, others speaking out against gender ideology have not been so lucky.
Dr. James Lindsay, a math PhD known in part for the "Grievance Studies Affair" that exposed frivolous scholarships within university humanities departments, among others, was recently permanently banned from Twitter for his use of the word "groomer" to describe tactics used by gender ideologues to lure youths into their belief system.
While this was Wright's first Twitter suspension, he has recently been permanently banned from Paypal and Etsy for voicing gender critical views.
Wright earned his PhD in evolutionary biology from UC Santa Barbara in 2018, and left in 2020 after being targeted and harassed by left-wing activists for publicly expressing his scientifically factual views on biological sex.
Wright maintains that there are only two sexes—male and female—and that sex is not a spectrum or a "social construct."
