A man who previously worked for the Metropolitan Police has been jailed after grooming a 14-year-old girl, which resulted in him sexually assaulting her. He subsequently admitted to a string of other sexual offenses.

Hussain Chehab, 22, reportedly contacted the teenage girl by posing as a 16-year-old Russian boy on Instagram, per The Times. The development allegedly took place in March 2020, a year before he joined the force.

It has been reported that Chehab has admitted to four counts of "sexual activity" with the underage girl. He has also reportedly admitted to activity linked to indecent photos of children, per The Guardian.

Chehab was sentenced after pleading guilty to "four counts of sexual activity with a girl aged 13-15, three counts of making indecent photographs of a child, and one count of engaging in sexual communication with a child," per Enfield Dispatch.

As a result, Judge John Dodd has sentenced Chehab to five years in prison, adding that the perpetrator’s actions had been "calculated."

The judge continued: "[The victim] has suffered as a result of the way you behaved towards her. It’s clear that, though she didn’t want her impact statement read out, your behaviour has caused her much distress; not just her, but her family."

"You badgered her for images; images that, sadly, you did not keep to yourself."

The Times reported that Chehab will also have to undergo a ten-year harm prevention order, as well as a ten-year restraining order.

The court was also made aware that the police had received a complaint from another young woman in July 2021. Though the incident did not result in charges, it did provoke the officers to take up Chehab’s digital devices.

The report noted that the authorities had found “[s]exually explicit photos, including images of young children.” Officers also located the photos, messages, and videos that ultimately led to charges being brought against Chehab.

The judge added that the authorities had acted with "commendable speed" in apprehending Chehab, noting: "At a time when police conduct is very much in the public eye . . . I should record that there was not a sign of any failure by the Met to act swiftly once complaints were made. The only one at fault here, Mr Chehab, is you."
